Hexaflex Drills
These exercises use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) processes to strengthen the four faculties of the Navigator. They are “gym drills” for the soul.
$\Sigma$ (Sophia) Drills: Seeing
- Defusion (DRILL:DEF):
- Exercise: “I’m having the thought that…”
- Goal: See thoughts as objects, not truths.
- Self-as-Context (DRILL:SAC):
- Exercise: The Observer Exercise. “Notice who is noticing.”
- Goal: Stabilize the witnessing position.
$\text{A}$ (Eros) Drills: Wanting
- Values (DRILL:VAL):
- Exercise: Values Card Sort. “If no one would know, what would I choose?”
- Goal: Distinguish authentic desire from mimetic/social desire.
- Present Moment (DRILL:PM-Affect):
- Exercise: “What is wanting to happen right now?”
- Goal: Connect desire to the immediate reality.

- Committed Action (DRILL:CA):
- Exercise: “Feet, Hands, Mouth.” (Physically move body parts to match value).
- Goal: Break paralysis; move despite internal weather.

- Acceptance (DRILL:ACC):
- Exercise: “Expansion.” Breathing into and making room for a difficult sensation.
- Goal: Develop capacity to hold charge without constricting.
- Present Moment (DRILL:PM-Sensing):
- Exercise: 5-Senses Grounding.
- Goal: Receive the world as it is.
