Polarization Mediation
This protocol is used to resolve Orbital Patterns (Pendulum, Slingshot, Push-Pull). It addresses the conflict between two Protectors who are fighting each other (e.g., Tyrant vs. Dissolver).
The Dynamic
Two parts are locked in a war.
- Part A: “I have to control because Part B is chaotic!”
- Part B: “I have to rebel because Part A is tyrannical!”
- Result: The system oscillates, tearing the self apart.
The Sequence
1. Map the Polarization
Identify both poles. Help the client see the cycle, not just the current state. “You’re not just bingeing; you’re in a war between the Controller and the Rebel.”
2. Validate Both Sides
Talk to both parts. Affirm their positive intent (Protection).
- To Tyrant: “You’re trying to keep us safe from chaos.”
- To Dissolver: “You’re trying to give us relief from the pressure.”
3. Find the Shared Exile
Ask both parts: “What are you both trying to stop us from feeling?”
- Usually: Shame or Overwhelm.
- The Tyrant tries to fix it; the Dissolver tries to numb it.
4. Negotiate a Truce
Ask both parts to step back just to let you help the Exile they are protecting. They don’t have to change yet; just allow access.
5. Heal the Exile
Perform Double Retrieval on the Shared Exile.
6. Introduction
Introduce the updated parts to each other. They often become natural allies (e.g., Discipline + Flow = Rhythm).
